Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Alfredo Juarez, 40, Madison, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to 78 months for distribution of cocaine. Juarez pleaded guilty to this charge on July 29, 2011.

On January 5, 2011, law enforcement agents observed the defendant meet with co-defendant Roman Hernandez Ortega and supply Hernandez Ortega with ten ounces of cocaine. Juarez was arrested at the scene of the delivery and admitted distributing cocaine to Hernandez Ortega. Two weeks later, law enforcement agents searched a farmhouse in Marshall, Wis., and found approximately one-half of a kilogram of cocaine. The defendant's DNA was found on the packaging containing the cocaine.

The charges against Juarez were the result of an investigation conducted by the Dane County Narcotics and Gang Task Force, Dane County Sheriff's Department and Drug Enforcement Administration. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Reinhard.
